Alerts and Notifications
Alerts & Notifications
Overview
TankMaster can send alerts and notifications when tank levels cross configured thresholds.
These alerts help you monitor freshwater, gray, and black tank levels without constantly opening the app.
Alerts are generated by the TankMaster app based on sensor data received from the sending unit.
When You Need This
- Setting up alerts for the first time
- Adjusting when alerts trigger
- Understanding when notifications are sent
How Alerts Work
TankMaster monitors sensor readings and compares them to the configured thresholds.
When a sensor crosses a threshold, the app generates an alert.
- Freshwater tanks: Alert when reaching the low threshold
- Gray & black tanks: Alert when reaching the high threshold
The app maintains a rolling 30-day history of sensor data to support monitoring and predictions.
Configuring Thresholds
- Open the TankMaster app
- Tap the tank you want to configure
- Select Thresholds
- Set each threshold to match the physical placement of the sensors
Thresholds should always correspond to where the sensors are mounted on the tank.
Enabling Alerts
Alerts are enabled within the TankMaster app.
- Ensure notifications are enabled for the app in your phone’s system settings
- Alerts will be delivered as standard mobile notifications
Background Monitoring
The TankMaster app runs in both the foreground and background.
When the TankMaster sending unit wakes up and transmits updated sensor data,
the app checks whether any thresholds have been crossed.
- If alerts are enabled, a notification is sent
- This works while the app is in the background
Battery-Powered Units
Battery-powered TankMasters wake periodically to conserve power.
- Sensor checks occur at configured wake intervals
- Alerts may not be immediate if the unit is sleeping
- Shorter sleep intervals provide more frequent updates but reduce battery life
12V-Powered Units
- Check sensors more frequently
- Provide faster alert delivery
- May use Bluetooth or WiFi for communication
What Alerts Do Not Do
- They do not continuously stream tank levels
- They do not update in real time while the unit is asleep
- They do not bypass phone notification settings
Predicted Tank Levels
The app analyzes historical sensor data to estimate when tanks will reach
empty (freshwater) or full (gray/black).
- Early on, estimates may be basic
- Accuracy improves as more history is collected
If You Are Not Receiving Alerts
- Confirm alerts are enabled in the app
- Verify phone notification permissions
- Ensure the TankMaster is powered and waking up
- Check that thresholds are configured correctly
Tips for Best Results
- Set thresholds to match sensor placement
- Balance battery life with wake frequency
- Periodically verify alerts during normal tank use
