Mounting the TankMaster Sending Unit

Mounting the TankMaster Sending Unit

Overview

The TankMaster sending unit must be mounted in a dry, protected location near the tank and sensors.
Proper mounting ensures reliable Bluetooth/Wi-Fi operation and long-term durability.

Important: The TankMaster enclosure is not waterproof or weatherproof.

When You Need This

  • First-time installation
  • Reinstalling after relocating sensors
  • Mounting inside a new compartment

Choose a Mounting Location

Select a location that meets all of the following requirements:

  • Inside the RV or inside an enclosed RV compartment
  • Will remain dry at all times
  • Within reach of all sensor cables (S1–S4)
  • Near a USB power source
  • Not exposed to direct spray, standing water, or road splash
  • Not exposed to extreme heat or condensation

Acceptable Locations:

  • Inside a basement storage compartment
  • On a wall or frame surface near the tank
  • Inside an enclosed utility bay

Important:
If mounted in a compartment that may experience moisture, the enclosure
must be sealed with silicone sealant around seams and cable entry points.

Clean the Mounting Surface

  1. Clean the mounting surface thoroughly
  2. Remove dust, grease, or residue
  3. Allow the surface to dry completely

A clean surface is critical for long-term adhesion.

Mount the TankMaster

  1. Apply two 3M double-sided adhesive pads to the back of the enclosure
  2. Press the TankMaster firmly against the mounting surface
  3. Hold pressure for 30 seconds
  4. Allow the adhesive to cure before routing cables

The unit may be mounted:

  • On the side of the tank
  • On a nearby wall or frame surface

Cable Routing Tips

  • Avoid sharp bends in sensor cables
  • Do not pinch cables under panels or doors
  • Keep cables away from moving parts or sharp edges

Leave a small service loop in each cable to reduce strain.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Mounting outside without sealing
  • Mounting where water can pool or drip
  • Mounting near high-heat sources
  • Mounting too far from sensor reach

Tips for Best Results

  • Mount higher than the bottom of the compartment when possible
  • Use silicone sealant if there is any chance of moisture exposure
  • Test Bluetooth connection before finalizing cable routing
